Overview

Garden & Art Landscapes is a Raleigh landscape design, installation, and garden-care company founded by horticulturist and artist Norman Rabins. I designed and built the complete website to give the business a digital presence as distinctive as the landscapes it creates.

The site brings together finished work, practical services, Norman’s experience, original garden art, and a direct inquiry path. It presents the company as more than a landscaping contractor: a practice shaped by horticultural knowledge and an artist’s eye.

The Opportunity

Garden & Art already had the strongest raw materials for a compelling website: more than 20 years of local experience, deep plant knowledge, a broad range of built work, and an unusual creative point of view. The challenge was turning those strengths into a clear story that homeowners could understand quickly.

The website needed to feel elevated without becoming precious. It also had to explain a wide service offering, establish local credibility, show the quality of the work, and make it easy for a homeowner to start a conversation.

The Experience

Lead with a point of view

The opening pairs immersive garden photography with editorial typography and the line “Landscapes with a point of view.” The art direction immediately distinguishes the company while concise supporting copy explains what it does and where it works.

Let completed work build trust

A visual portfolio shows retaining walls, ponds, gates, paths, patios, fireplaces, planting beds, and other finished landscapes. The imagery gives prospective clients tangible proof and helps them imagine the range of projects the company can take on.

Make a broad offering understandable

Eight services—from landscape design and hardscapes to water systems, lighting, garden care, sod, seasonal cleanups, and tree work—are organized into a consistent, scannable system. Visitors can understand the whole practice without navigating a maze of pages.

Put expertise behind the work

Norman’s story connects his horticultural training, experience at the New York Botanical Garden, teaching, certifications, and artistic practice to the way he approaches a site. A dedicated gallery of original metalwork makes the creative dimension of the business visible rather than merely claiming it.

Turn interest into a useful inquiry

Calls to action lead into a concise project form that asks for the information needed to begin a real conversation. Phone, email, location, license, and service-area details reinforce trust without interrupting the visual experience.

The Growth Foundation

The website also serves as the foundation for a broader local marketing system. Service architecture, search metadata, real project imagery, and owner expertise can support search-led pages and useful content over time. The accompanying 90-day plan connects that foundation to ongoing publishing, campaign reuse, and inquiry measurement.

The site comes first: a credible destination that future search, social, email, and local campaigns can confidently send people to.

  • A custom responsive website and visual design system
  • Positioning and content architecture around the company’s point of view
  • A project portfolio built from real landscape photography
  • Clear presentation of eight core service areas
  • Founder, experience, certification, and original-art storytelling

My Role

Product strategy, information architecture, UX and visual design, responsive frontend development, content structure, local SEO foundations, inquiry flow, growth planning, and launch.

Why It Matters

The new site makes the business easier to understand without sanding away what makes it unusual. Garden & Art now has a digital home that shows the quality of its work, explains the expertise behind it, and gives local homeowners a clear reason—and a clear way—to get in touch.
